    Call yourself a techie?

If it was downloading at 3900KB/sec, this would be a 31Mb/s connection.

I'd say that this is pretty good for a 4Mb/sec link.

No. I don't. Ask Pete about the time I purchased a PCI wireless card and tried to ram it into a USB socket :-)

In the interests of pedantry, I have airbrushed the offending zeros from history.

In the interests of pedantry, I'll point out that your link is likely to be a 10Mb/sec link, not a 10MB/sec link.

    Ditto 4MB.

    :P

Fixed. I wonder if, in 1024 years, my great great great grandson will be blogging about an upgrade to a 10 YB/sec service. Probably not.

Nah, that'll be slow by then... and if they're still using TCP/IP I'd be very unimpressed!

    Never trust anyone.

I've gotten burned so many times from trusting that what people I work with were telling me was a fact, rather than their assumption.

Can't help but wonder (not knowing anything about it) if the son's perception may have been because of a switch to a less congested node that will be able to handle the faster speed when you get it.

Kind of like driving 5MPH in 5MPH traffic on a road posted for 25MPH on a moped that can go 25MPH, then moving to a 75MPH road on the same moped. You'll go faster, but...
