"Is my attitude to 'friends' simply typical British self-reserve ? Or am I a tortured soul prone to over analysis and introspection ?"

Do you really want me to answer that?

For what it's worth, I refer to you as "Andy C, that blogger I know" but, at the same time, I do think of you as a friend who I would turn to for advice on occasion but, I agree, I don't think that's the same as a real friend.

Cheers Doug. I am going to put that on my gravestone

That would be, 'used to know.'

This seemed an interesting need, so I started poking about on pseudodictionary.com to see if something might be there. Being me, I was of course thinking of a perhaps rude word like blofriend, so I put blo%friend in the search box there. Didn't find it, but the strange things it gave seemed interesting enough to mention here. Just putting in % gives a mysql message, among other things...

Actually meeting bloggers has generally confirmed what I've expected, except for physical appearance (even when I've seen pictures). In a couple of cases, it brought into focus traits I hadn't really noticed, but did afterwards. What they think of me... I couldn't say :-)
