I suspect Chelsea would have mounted a serious title challenge if Essien hadn't missed the majority of the season through injury.

It was Michael Essien which was a shame as he scored a fantastic goal. Maybe he was a little tired after chasing shadows for 90 minutes trying to get the ball off Barcelona.

Gus Hiddink conducted himself with a great deal of restraint and dignity in the post-match interviews. Terry, Drogba, and Ballack could learn from him. But they won't.

One other pitiful thing to note is , I think it is Malouda, on the initial cross that was deflected to the far post, Malouda (or someone who likes like him) had a chance to clear and whiffed. I like Hiddink's take on the match. I paraphrase and take a lot of poetic license. YOu can complain about the ref, and a bunch of other things, but they should have scored more goals during open play. exactly. They had a lot of opportunities to score.

Hi.

If you judged Drogba on this performance alone you would have thought he was drafted in from a Sunday league side. He was just plain rubbish. He missed some goals I think I could have scored. And the feigning injury and all that nonsense just adds to the sorry package.

Ballack... His name says it all. He's a load of Ballacks. :) He's big and strong, but he wouldn't know how to play football if a Penguin book of football walked up to him, slapped him in the face and told him out to play. I'm not sure he even realizes he's meant to be playing football.

Barcelona were playing better football, but Chelsea were stronger and muscled them out. Just as Jamie Redknapp said, if they carry on playing like this the last 20 minutes is going to get really dangerous. I think he may be psychic. :)

Iniesta is very good, but the guy hit the deck every time someone sneezed near him. The authorities really need to do something about it. Either punish them or start presenting awards for the best faker of the match.

I feel sorry for Chelsea, having it stolen at the last minute, but when you play with fire you're sure as hell going to get burned.

The reason a lot of people like to see Chelsea lose is because they act like spoilt children when they do.
Yes the referee was terrible. Conspiring against the blues, clearly not.

Drogba should receive a ban for his antics and I am unhappy that the England captain was involved in such scenes.

Chelsea and the way they conduct themselvs are an increasing embarrassment to the Premiership, Football and Sport as a whole.
